Finance Reporting Actuary
Our Client has attracted a team of experienced professionals to ensure that their clients benefit from industry leading knowledge and insights. With emphasis on the core reinsurance pricing and risk management services they believe that the clients will benefit from this focus and the associated reduction in costs relative to other "full service" reinsurance business models.

Our client is looking for a Financial Reporting Actuary.

Key Objective
The Financial Reporting Actuary (FRA) will lead the day-to-day activities of the Actuarial team to support financial reporting, embedded value reporting and other areas where actuarial involvement in reporting is required. The FRA is a main connection point to the Accounting team. Strong leadership and management skills and an expert understanding of both actuarial principles and the life reinsurance industry.

The FRA must ensure reporting to all stakeholders is accurate, timely and to the required standard. The FRA is responsible for managing the control environment across the Actuarial team
- Manage the financial reporting process across the Actuarial team (includes US GAAP, UK Stat, Embedded Values)
- Oversee the preparation and sign off of the Financial Returns
- Key responsibilities with regard to financial close process includes reserves, other actuarial adjustments and earnings analysis
- Monitor emerging actual earnings vs plan earnings and identifies management action to ensure targets met
- Define meaningful KPIs for the business and implement processes to gather information to measure performance against these KPIs
- Owns the on-going annuity valuation processes
- Manage the ALM process
- Experience analysis
- Manage communications and information exchange with Accounting and Group Finance teams
- Manage the majority of the actuarial staff within the Actuarial team
- Projects as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
- Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary Strong analytical skills or Actuarial student with relevant years experience and minimum of CT series completed.

Industry Knowledge:
- Good understanding of the life reinsurance industry

Technical Expertise:
- Expert understanding of actuarial principles
- Good knowledge of US GAAP
- Deep understanding of actuarial / financial reporting process design and maintenance
- Current knowledge in key development areas (Solvency II, Sarbanes Oxley, PSB, etc.)
- Good understanding of appropriate systems including Moses
- Basic understanding of accounting, profit drivers and profit measures

Other Desirable Experience and Skills

Management Skills
- Well developed management and communication skills
- Needs to be organised, deadline focused and have good analytical skills

Leadership
- Clear leadership abilities and the profile to lead people both within and outside of the Actuarial team

Commercial Judgement
- Strong understanding of the commercial drivers within the industry and within the business specifically
