Senior Information Officer
Government Office for the South East

1 year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to permanency. Based in London but the post holder will be expected to spend at least one day per week in Guildford.

Salary Band (London): $8,168 - $42,371. Applicants should note that it is normal practice to offer the minimum starting salary to new recruits unless there are exceptional circumstances which may justify a higher starting salary (i.e. taking into account the qualifications and experience of an exceptional candidate).

The Government Office Network supports the work of the Regional Minister to champion the region to Whitehall, and to drive forward the region's priorities through effective partnership working regionally and locally. We are seeking a first-class communicator to strengthen the Regional Minister's media support. You should have experience of working in a busy and challenging environment, and turning round high quality work to tight deadlines. You will need a commitment to working with partners locally, regionally and nationally; understanding complex organisations and situations quickly and communicating them clearly.

This is an exciting and broad-ranging role, working within a busy multi-disciplined team, where your skills and thorough understanding of the regional media landscape will be vital. You will work closely with policy experts and partners across central, regional and local government. You will work in a team which is putting first class communications at the heart of the successful delivery of the Government's strategic objectives in the region, and engaging partners effectively in working together to overcome regional challenges.

All applicants will be assessed against the GCN core skills. Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be subject to counter-terrorism clearance.

For more information about the GCN please visit www.comms.gov.uk . For more details about the work of the Government Office, see http://www.gos.gov.uk/national/

For an application pack please call Sheelagh Homer on 01223 372 924. For an informal discussion about the role please contact Rhiannon Williams on 01483 882895.
