IT Support Engineer
$30,000 to $35,000 + Full Benefits
London
This is a fantastic opportunity for you, an experienced Support Engineer to join a leading organisation in London. You will be responsible for all aspects of support for hardware, software and networking. It is essential you have good experience of a Windows environment, and recent hands-on experience with Linux - preferably with Red Hat.

Your day to day and key responsibilities will include:-
-Maintain hosted server environments to ensure 24/7 operation. Liaising with our hosting partners, where necessary, to fix any problems;
-Perform the installation of software within the hosted environment as and when software is released in to the testing, staging and live environments.
-Implement disaster recovery plans / software rollback for these hosted environments.
-Raise purchase orders for I.T equipment, working with our suppliers for the most competitive prices;
-Maintain the company wide I.T infrastructure, identifying and resolving problems with both hardware and software configurations;
-Identify and resolve hardware and software issues with end-user Desktop PCs, Laptops and Apple Macintosh computers.
-Execute the company backup plan, ensuring backup schedules run according to plan and tapes are archived appropriately on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
-Perform the reinstallation of Operating Systems and installation of off-the-shelf software on end-user computers.
-Update company asset and software registers, performing audits where necessary and providing reports to the Head of I.T;
-Liaise with other business units to identify software and hardware requirements.

In order to be successful in your application, you should have
*A degree level qualification in computer science / software engineering.
*Microsoft certification will also be highly regarded but not essential.
*At least 3 years of recent hands-on experience with the following Microsoft Technologies: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange (OWA and OA), IIS and Sharepoint Services.
*At least 2 years of recent hands-on experience with Linux preferably with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
*At least 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and Outlook.
*At least 2 year of experience supporting Windows Vista and Windows XP.
*Experience of the following software packages: Symantec Backup Exec, Apache, Subversion and Mantis
*Experience of working with Firewalls, DSL, VPN tunnels, TCP/IP over Ethernet, RDP, DNS and DHCP.
*Exposure to Apple Mac OS X.
*The ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
*Excellent written skills.
*Strong analytical skills.
*Strong problem solving skills.
*Strong commercial, negotiation skills.
*Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
