Our client's IT systems help support the trading of items such as derivatives swaps and fixed income products. As one of just two official tier 1 preferred recruitment partners, we have been asked to recruit a permanent Infrastructure Solutions Designer.
Main skills needed:
Infrastructure Solutions Design / Infrastructure Architecture
IT Systems Administration (Unix, VMS, Windows) - (good understanding, not especially hands-on exp)
Experience of IT Operational procedures,
Experience of SAN based storage and backup (HP, HDS, Brocade)
Clustering (Veritas, Windows)
Desirable skills:
Understanding of IT Production based monitoring and alerting (BMC Patrol, HP Openview),
Experience of enterprise scheduling products (Control-M),
Experience of data centre design and operation,
ITIL Qualified,
Broad technology background: (Solaris, Windows), RDBs (Sybase, SQLServer, Oracle), Middleware, Storage and networks (Ethernet, WAN, SAN) Network Administration (Cisco),
Responsibilities
*Design and document infrastructure solutions as required by a range of projects, ensuring a successful transition to live operation.
*Responsible for the infrastructure design that forms a component of overall systems design owned by the Application Solution Designer.
*Work with Service Delivery Technicians to produce detailed Low-Level Designs, which can be successfully deployed.
*Working closely with project teams to ensure that infrastructure solutions meet requirements for production, development and test.
*Responsible for the design of appropriate, cost effective technical solutions across a broad range of technologies and platforms.
*A relatively in depth knowledge of all aspects of IT infrastructure will be required including but not limited to; systems (Solaris, Windows), RDBs (Sybase, SQLServer, Oracle), Middleware, Storage and networks (Ethernet, WAN, SAN)
*Work closely with the Service Delivery teams to ensure that infrastructure designs are fully supportable in a production environment.
*Understand the EA strategy and apply to all designs. Actively challenge when production requirements are compromised.
*Provide budgetary estimates for infrastructure solutions to projects at initiation stage.
