System Designer
My client is one of the leading independent railway technology advisers in
Europe. My client supplies advanced solutions combining the delivery of hardware, software and specialist consultancy to improve business performance for customers. They are now looking for a Windows Systems Designer to join either their London or Derby office. Candidates will communicate with the project teams to understand business and technical requirements and then translate them into application architecture design and deployment. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
* Detailed knowledge of full applications lifecycle development methodologies (e.g. RUP, Agile, V-model) either from a delivery or consultancy background
* Expertise solving complex technical problems, architecting and presenting solutions.
* 3-5 years experience with object-orientated programming and design in a Windows environment
* Familiarity with Oracle an advantage
* Proficient in Performance Testing and Performance Testing Tools
* Expert in OOAD, proficient in C++, Delphi or .NET technology
* Proficient in the use of Quality Methods and Process, including testing
* Degree level or equivalent
* Numerate and accurate, capable of self-checking and managing own workload

You will also be able to communicate technical constraints and decisions to the project team and architecture group and have an active engagement with peers in design and review QA process, including continual improvement. Understand business architecture artefacts including current state architecture, target state architecture, architectural roadmaps, referential architecture models and technology standards. In addition to technical breadth and depth, this position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also be a demonstrated team player and technical leader in a dynamic, fast moving and fast growing product development environment.
