Senior Network Architect
A Global FTSE 100 provider of Business Critical information and Technology Solution seeks experienced Senior Network Architect to join them at their offices in the City of London

Role:
The network architecture and design team are globally responsible for the production of designs for any data project that has data centre related components for the organisation. The team are required to gather requirements from various departments and translate them into detailed designs that adhere to common standards and best practice.

Day to day responsibilities
-Detailed network design based around LAN architecture within the data centre.
-Production of comprehensive documentation that will be used to describe designs and referenced by the business
-Consultation with various business units to understand designs, develop ideas, promote best practise, advise on solutions.
-Ownership of specific projects from conception to delivery.
-Interaction with regional I&S teams to support project implementations and ongoing issues.
-Third level support to global networks teams including ICC involvement.

Essential Skills
-In-depth experience in networking,
-Advanced knowledge and understanding of LAN or data centre networking,
-Expert knowledge of broad range of data communications technologies. (Certification in a technology area desirable).
-The ability to produce and understand complex global network designs and explain them to technical and non-technical audiences.
-Significant experience in network design and management functions, delivering business transformation and service improvement
-Previous experience in a global networking group, providing design expertise and oversight for complex telecommunications problems
-A working knowledge of application architecture/engineering areas, and independent professional experience.
-Specific vendor knowledge and proven design utilising Cisco technologies or alternative suppliers.

An in-depth understanding and demonstrable experience of:
* TCP/IP in particular and network protocols in general, including application, routing and infrastructure services.
* Network devices including bridges, switches, routers, and firewalls.
* Network architecture and design methodologies
* Network security
* Internet technologies

Desirable Skills
-Experience in Data Centre design specific to networking but with awareness for storage, security and server capabilities.
-Experience in virtualisation using latest technologies and design principles would be a major advantage.
-Multi-vendor experience outside of Cisco.
-Detailed scripting or knowledge of performance related network tools
-Knowledge or experience for large scale network management environments or builds
