Finance Officer
Job Title: Finance Officer (3 days p.w)

Salary: c. $ 38,000 (full-time equivalent)

Location: Central Location

Job Type: 9 - 12 months fixed term contract

Unison Welfare is a registered Charity set up to provide members of the Unison trade union and their dependants with financial and welfare support. The service is delivered through a regional network of offices throughout the country.

The Finance Officer is a standalone role responsible for maintaining the accounting records, financial controls and the overall financial function, as well as being involved in the financial aspects of new initiatives and projects which will greatly benefit from the input of a finance professional.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for:
- all periodic management reports
- year-end accounts and statutory returns for the Charity
- managing the budgeting process
- monitoring performance against budget.
- Maintaining close links on financial matters with the Trustees and Investment Fund Managers
- treasury management including banking arrangements and purchase approval processes

Sage Line 50 is in place and the Charity want to see increasingly more efficient use made of its capabilities, especially to improve the quality of financial information presented to the Trustees.

Candidates will be either qualified or part qualified Accountants, experienced in the Charity sector, have current or recent experience of producing accounts in line with the Charity SORP and be hands-on users of Sage or similar PC-based accounting package.

You must be used to working on your own initiative, be able to demonstrate success in change management and possess the personal qualities necessary to present confidently to Trustees and liaise effectively with external advisers.
